How to Make a Rainbow Chiffon Cake: A Step-by-Step Guide

Rainbow chiffon cake is a vibrant, airy dessert that delights both eyes and taste buds. Here’s a simple guide to creating this colorful treat.

Ingredients Needed:

- 6 eggs (separated)

- 90g cake flour

- 70g sugar (divided)

- 50g vegetable oil

- 60ml milk

- 1 tsp vanilla extract

- Gel food coloring (assorted colors)

Steps:

1. Prepare Batter: Separate egg yolks and whites. In a bowl, whisk yolks with 30g sugar, oil, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Sift in flour and mix gently until just combined.

2. Whip Egg Whites: In a clean, grease-free bowl, beat egg whites with an electric mixer until foamy. Gradually add the remaining 40g sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.

3. Color and Fold: Divide the yolk mixture into equal portions. Tint each portion with a different gel color. Gently fold one colored yolk mixture into the egg whites until no streaks remain, then repeat with remaining colors, creating distinct layers in the batter.

4. Bake: Pour the batter into a 17cm ungreased chiffon cake pan. Tap the pan lightly to remove air bubbles. Bake at 170°C (340°F) for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

5. Cool and Serve: Invert the cake immediately and let it cool completely. Once cooled, use a knife to run around the edges and unmold. Slice and enjoy its soft, colorful layers!

This cake’s light texture and rainbow swirls make it perfect for celebrations or a sweet everyday treat.
