How to Make a Classic Cinnamon Apple Pie

A cinnamon apple pie is a timeless dessert, blending sweet, spiced apples with a flaky crust. Here’s a simple guide to baking this comforting treat.

Ingredients: For the crust, you’ll need 2½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup cold butter (cubed), 1 tsp salt, and 6-8 tbsp ice water. For the filling, use 6-7 medium apples (like Granny Smith), peeled and sliced; ¾ cup sugar; 2 tbsp flour; 1 tsp cinnamon; ¼ tsp nutmeg; 1 tbsp lemon juice; and 2 tbsp butter (cubed).

Steps:

1. Make the crust: Mix flour and salt, cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water, kneading lightly into a dough. Divide into two disks, wrap, and chill for 1 hour.

2. Prepare filling: Toss sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Let sit for 15 minutes to release juices.

3. Assemble: Roll out one dough disk and line a 9-inch pie dish. Add apple filling, dot with butter. Roll the second dough, place over filling, and crimp edges to seal. Cut slits on top for steam.

4. Bake: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 45-55 minutes until golden. Cool before slicing.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a perfect finish!
