According to a recent report on the U.S. "HealthDay" website, a research team from Massachusetts General Hospital found that colorectal cancer patients who consume foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as deep-sea fish like tuna and salmon, may have improved survival rates. Eating more deep-sea fish is beneficial for bowel cancer patients.

The research team selected data from 1,659 colorectal cancer patients, of whom 169 died from the disease. The analysis showed that among patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer, those who consumed at least 0.3 grams of omega-3 fatty acids from deep-sea fish daily had a 41% lower risk of death compared to those who consumed less than 0.1 grams. This nutrient can inhibit tumor growth and block the blood supply to cancer cells. Researchers believe that if this study is further confirmed, colorectal cancer patients may be able to extend their lifespan by eating more deep-sea fish.
