Experts point out that the increased antibiotic resistance in children with pneumonia is related to the premature and excessive use of antibiotics. Drinking warm water regularly can also prevent pneumonia.
1. Adjust clothing promptly
Although children are not as cold-resistant as adults, they are often in a state of activity and won't stay still even when asleep. Therefore, it's generally fine to dress them similarly to adults. Mothers should adjust their baby's clothes according to temperature changes and not let the baby suddenly go into cold air while sweating.
2. Exercise regularly
Letting your baby exercise in nature and engage in aerobic activities is a great way to improve the body's resistance. However, some parents close doors and windows as soon as the weather gets a little cool, not allowing their babies to go outside, fearing they will catch a cold. This is, in fact, depriving the baby of the opportunity to exercise in nature. The correct approach is to allow the baby to have appropriate outdoor activities daily, to get fresh air and sunlight, and to ventilate the room regularly.
3. Stay away from sources of infection
Try to avoid contact with patients who have respiratory infections. During the season when diseases are prevalent, it's better to take the baby to fewer homes and try to avoid public places. If someone at home has a cold, their contact with the baby should be reduced.
4. Cool down gradually
Do not place a sweating child in a draft to cool down, nor let them quickly consume cold drinks or foods, as this will cause the child's open sweat pores to close rapidly, leading to an imbalance in the body's regulation and causing respiratory infections. The correct approach is: when a child is already sweating, do not remove their clothes immediately. Instead, let the child calm down, wipe off the sweat, and wait until the child is no longer drenched before removing one piece of clothing and letting them go back to play.
5. Drink warm water regularly
Letting your child drink more warm plain water can not only prevent colds but, more importantly, is beneficial to their gastrointestinal tract and lungs.
