Spicy Bass Hot Pot
In winter, hot pot is an essential part of people's diet. After simmering for a long time, the broth in the hot pot becomes "heaty" (燥热). Adding ingredients like lamb and beef, which are also considered "heaty" in traditional Chinese medicine, leads to an accumulation of internal heat. This is why people who frequently eat hot pot are prone to "internal heat" (上火), experiencing symptoms such as a sore throat, hoarseness, mouth ulcers, chapped lips, and dark yellow urine.
Nutritionists suggest adding some traditional Chinese herbs to the hot pot to prevent "internal heat". The method is: take 10 grams each of Dendrobium, Scrophularia, and Ophiopogon, wrap them in a gauze bag, and cook in the hot pot for 15-20 minutes. Then, remove the herb bag and you can start eating. Alternatively, you can soak lotus seeds in water for 30 minutes, peel them but leave the hearts intact, and add them to the hot pot. This not only provides nourishment but also clears the heart and reduces fire, making it an excellent remedy for preventing "internal heat".
