Chicken wings, also known as chicken wing parts, are the most delicious part of the whole chicken. They can be subdivided into wing tips, wing roots, and mid-wings, and are often served as appetizers with drinks. Chicken is considered a "warming" food that can strengthen the body and is also good for the stomach. There are many ways to prepare chicken wings. Today, I'll introduce a simple and easy-to-follow method for baking chicken wings in the oven.
Ingredients:
500g mid-wings, 4-6 tablespoons (60-90ml) of light soy sauce (enough to submerge the wings is ideal), 1 tablespoon (15ml) of dark soy sauce, a pinch of ginger powder (can be substituted with 2 slices of fresh ginger), a pinch of garlic powder (can be substituted with 3 cloves of garlic), 1 teaspoon (5g) of salt, an appropriate amount of five-spice powder, an appropriate amount of black pepper, and 2 tablespoons (30ml) of maple syrup (can be substituted with honey. If you don't have honey, brown sugar also works well).
Instructions:
1. Place the chicken wings in a sealed container and mix them evenly with the light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, salt, ginger powder, garlic powder, five-spice powder, black pepper, and maple syrup. Ensure the wings are evenly coated. Marinate for 12 hours, preferably overnight. You can marinate the wings the day before you plan to cook them to allow them to become more flavorful. If you're short on time, you can poke some holes in the wings with a toothpick or make a few shallow cuts to help them absorb the marinade faster.
2. Take the marinated chicken wings out and evenly coat them with honey on the surface.
3. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) for 5 minutes. Place the honey-coated wings on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil to make cleanup easier. Place the baking sheet on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes. Keep a close eye on them; they are ready when the surface is golden brown. When serving, sprinkle with chili powder and Sichuan peppercord to taste. For those who love spicy food, you can roll the cooked wings in a mixture of chili powder and Sichuan peppercord to coat them completely.
Chicken wings contain a large amount of organic acids and minerals that the human body needs. However, since they are a type of meat, it's best to pair them with fresh fruits and vegetables to balance the nutrients you consume. Additionally, when baking the wings, be sure to take them out of the marinade and drain off as much of the liquid as possible to prevent the honey from sticking to the baking sheet.
