When using a newly bought clay pot for the first time, it is best to use it to make porridge or boil thick rice-washing water. This helps seal the fine pores of the clay pot to prevent seepage and extend its service life. Also, soak it in rice-washing water or salt water before using it, and keep it filled with clear water when not in use. This will make it less likely to crack in the future.
