A Guide to Making Mini Puff Pastries

Mini puffs, with their delicate crispness and creamy fillings, are a delightful treat perfect for parties or afternoon tea. Here’s a simple guide to crafting these bite-sized delights.

Ingredients: For the choux pastry, you’ll need ½ cup water, ½ cup unsalted butter, ½ cup all-purpose flour, 2 large eggs, and a pinch of salt. For the filling, 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, and vanilla extract work well. Optional: chocolate or fruit toppings for decoration.

Steps:

1. Prepare the pastry: In a saucepan, bring water and butter to a boil. Remove from heat, stir in flour until a smooth dough forms. Cool slightly, then beat in eggs one at a time until the mixture is glossy.

2. Shape and bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Pipe or drop small teaspoon-sized mounds onto a baking lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden.

3. Make the filling: Whip cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Let pastries cool completely, then split them and fill with cream using a piping bag.

4. Serve: Dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with chocolate, or add fresh berries.

These mini puffs are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored unfilled in an airtight container for up to two days. Enjoy your homemade, delicious creation!
