Minced pork and soft tofu is a beloved Chinese dish celebrated for its delicate flavors and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Here’s a simple yet delicious recipe to recreate it at home.
Ingredients:
300g soft tofu (silken or tender tofu), 150g ground pork, 2 green onions (chopped), 1 garlic clove (minced), 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp oyster sauce, ½ tsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp vegetable oil, salt, and white pepper to taste.
Steps:
1. Prep the tofu: Gently cut the tofu into 1.5-inch cubes and arrange them in a heatproof bowl. Avoid breaking them.
2. Cook the pork: Heat oil in a wok over medium heat. Sauté garlic until fragrant, then add ground pork. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until no longer pink. Season with soy sauce and oyster sauce.
3. Combine: Carefully pour the cooked pork over the tofu. Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle with salt, white pepper, and most of the chopped green onions.
4. Steam (optional): For extra flavor, cover the bowl and steam for 3-4 minutes. Alternatively, serve immediately if you prefer a quicker dish.
5. Garnish and serve: Top with remaining green onions. Enjoy hot with steamed rice!
Tips: Use low heat when handling tofu to prevent crumbling. For a spicier kick, add a dash of chili oil or chopped chilies. This versatile dish is comforting, nutritious, and ready in under 20 minutes!
