Pumpkin rose rolls are a delightful fusion of autumn flavors and elegant presentation, combining the sweetness of pumpkin with the delicate shape of a rose. Here’s a simple guide to creating this beautiful treat.
Ingredients:
- 200g steamed pumpkin, mashed
- 250g all-purpose flour
- 30g sugar
- 3g yeast
- 1 egg
- 20g melted butter
- A pinch of salt
Steps:
1. Prepare the dough: Mix mashed pumpkin, sugar, yeast, egg, and salt. Gradually add flour and knead into a smooth, soft dough. Add melted butter and continue kneading until the dough is elastic. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
2. Shape the rolls: Punch down the dough and roll it into a thin rectangle (about 0.5cm thick). Spread a thin layer of pumpkin jam or mashed pumpkin evenly. Roll the dough tightly into a log, then cut it into 6-8 equal segments.
3. Form roses: Place each segment cut-side up. Press the center lightly, then wrap the edges downward to form a petal-like shape. Roll it into a spiral, tucking the end underneath. Place on a baking tray.
4. Proof and bake: Let the rolls rise for 30 minutes. Brush with egg wash and bake at 180°C for 15-20 minutes until golden. Cool slightly before serving.
These rolls are soft, fragrant, and perfect for afternoon tea or festive gatherings!
