How to Make Pork and Cabbage Dumplings: A Complete Guide

Pork and cabbage dumplings, a beloved comfort food, are delicious and easy to prepare. Here’s a step-by-step guide to making them from scratch.

Ingredients: For the filling, you’ll need 300g ground pork, 1/2 a cabbage (finely chopped), 2 green onions (minced), 1 tbsp ginger (grated), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tsp salt, and a pinch of pepper. For the dough, mix 300g all-purpose flour with 150ml warm water until a smooth dough forms; let it rest for 30 minutes.

Steps:

1. Prepare the filling: Squeeze excess water from the chopped cabbage. Mix all filling ingredients in a bowl, stirring well to combine. Chill for 15 minutes to enhance flavors.

2. Make the dough: Knead the rested dough until elastic, then divide into small balls (about 2cm each). Roll each ball into a thin wrapper (about 8cm in diameter).

3. Assemble dumplings: Place 1 tbsp filling in the center of a wrapper. Fold it in half, pinch the edges to seal, and create pleats for a classic shape.

4. Cook: Boil water, add dumplings, and cook for 3-5 minutes until they float. For a crispy touch, pan-fry them in oil after boiling until golden brown.

Serve hot with soy sauce or vinegar. Enjoy these homemade dumplings, perfect for family meals or festive gatherings!
