4 Foods to Help "Slim Down" Your Liver

For modern people, fatty liver is no longer an unfamiliar term, and it has a lot to do with "eating." But at the same time, eating can also help "slim down" fatty liver to a certain extent.

1. Purple Onion

The various sulfides contained in onions can inhibit platelet aggregation, help blood flow smoothly, and eliminate free radicals in the body. Components such as thiols and allyl sulfide in onions have the function of lowering blood lipids, increasing "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the body, and preventing arteriosclerosis. More importantly, these active ingredients in onions can promote fat metabolism and prevent fatty liver. Purple onions are recommended because the darker the color, the higher the sulfide content. It should be noted that sulfides are easily destroyed at high temperatures, so it's best to eat onions raw.

2. Garlic

The pungent smell of garlic comes from allicin. Multiple studies have confirmed that allicin can maintain the activity of macrophages, increase the ability to kill pathogens, and promote the proliferation of lymphocytes. It can also prevent the accumulation of abdominal fat and enhance the activity of detoxification enzymes in the liver. Garlic is best crushed into a paste and left for 10-15 minutes before eating, which is beneficial for the formation of allicin.

3. Cherry Tomatoes

Eating 20 cherry tomatoes (about 155g) daily can provide the daily required amount of vitamin C. When the body has sufficient vitamin C, the fat burned during exercise will be 30% more than in people with insufficient intake, strongly promoting fat metabolism. Cherry tomatoes can be eaten raw or used in large salads.

4. Lemon

Researchers from Mie University in Japan have found that lemons may contain a component that can prevent fatty liver by inhibiting fat accumulation in liver cells. In addition, lemons help the liver detoxify by promoting bile production to purify the liver, while also helping to control excessive bile, reduce the production of harmful mucus in the body, and help dissolve gallstones. Because of its sour taste, lemon can be used to make lemon water.
