How to Cook Braised Duck with Mushrooms

Braised Duck with Mushrooms is a savory, tender dish that balances rich duck meat with earthy shiitake mushrooms. Here’s a simple yet delicious recipe:

Ingredients: 1 duck (cut into pieces), 200g dried shiitake mushrooms (soaked and sliced), 3 ginger slices, 5 garlic cloves, 2 scallions (chopped), 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 cup broth, and cooking oil.

Steps:

1. Prep: Soak mushrooms in warm water for 20 minutes until soft. Pat duck pieces dry.

2. Sear: Heat oil in a wok. Sear duck over medium-high heat until golden, then remove.

3. Aromatics: Sauté ginger, garlic, and scallions until fragrant. Return duck to the wok.

4. Simmer: Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and broth. Stir in mushrooms. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 40–50 minutes until duck is tender.

5. Reduce Sauce: Uncover, increase heat slightly, and cook until the sauce thickens. Garnish with extra scallions.

Serve hot with rice to enjoy the umami-rich flavors! This dish is perfect for family meals, with tender meat and a savory-sweet sauce that complements the mushrooms perfectly.
