How to Make Flower-Shaped Bread: A Simple Guide

Flower-shaped bread, with its delicate petals and soft texture, is a delightful treat perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea. Here’s a basic guide to creating these charming baked goods.

Start by preparing the dough: Mix 500g all-purpose flour, 50g sugar, 7g yeast, and a pinch of salt. Warm 250ml milk to 35°C, then add 1 egg and 30g melted butter. Knead into a smooth dough, let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).

Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls (50g each). Roll each ball into a circle, then cut it into 6-8 petals with scissors. Brush the center with water, fold petals slightly inward, and pinch the tips to form a flower shape. Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Cover and let them rise for 20 minutes. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with sesame seeds or sugar, and bake at 180°C for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

For variations, add cocoa powder to some dough for "chocolate petals" or fill the center with cream cheese before baking. These breads are not only tasty but also visually appealing, making them a hit with both kids and adults. Enjoy the process and savor your homemade floral creations!
