A Guide to Making Coffee and Milk Tea at Home

Brewing coffee and milk tea at home is simple with these basic recipes. For coffee, start with a classic latte: brew 1-2 shots of espresso using an espresso machine, or 1/4 cup of strong coffee from a drip brewer. Froth 1/2 cup of whole milk by heating it and whisking vigorously or using a milk frother. Pour the milk over the espresso, and add sugar or syrup to taste. For an iced version, chill the coffee and milk, then serve over ice with a splash of vanilla.

Milk tea is equally easy. For traditional bubble tea, brew 2 black tea bags in 1 cup of hot water for 5 minutes. Remove the bags, add 2 tablespoons of sugar (or honey), and stir until dissolved. Chill the tea, then pour it over ice in a glass. Add cooked tapioca pearls (boba) and a wide straw. For a creamy twist, mix in 1/4 cup of evaporated milk or half-and-half.

Experiment with flavors: add cinnamon to coffee, matcha powder to milk tea, or fruit syrups for a refreshing twist. With these methods, you can enjoy café-quality drinks anytime at home.
