How to Make Jam-Filled Buns: A Simple Guide

Jam-filled buns are a delightful treat, perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea. Here’s a straightforward recipe to create soft, fluffy b bursting with sweet fruitiness.

Ingredients:

- 500g all-purpose flour

- 50g sugar

- 7g active dry yeast

- 1 tsp salt

- 1 large egg

- 200ml warm milk

- 100g unsalted butter, softened

- 200g your favorite jam (strawberry, apricot, or raspberry work well)

Steps:

1. Activate the yeast: Mix warm milk with 1 tsp sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

2. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, egg, and softened butter. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

3. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours, or until doubled in size.

4. Shape the buns: Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Roll each into a ball, flatten slightly, and place a spoonful of jam in the center. Pinch the edges to seal, ensuring no jam leaks out.

5. Second rise: Place the buns on a baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

6. Bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the buns with a little milk or beaten egg for a golden finish. Bake for 15–18 minutes until risen and lightly browned.

7. Cool: Let the buns cool on a wire rack before serving.

Enjoy your homemade jam buns fresh, or store them in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Customize with different jams or a sprinkle of powdered sugar for extra sweetness!
