How to Make Spicy Tofu Skin Salad: A Simple Guide

Spicy Tofu Skin Salad (Qiangban Gan Doufu) is a popular Chinese appetizer loved for its crispy texture and bold flavors. Here’s a step-by-step guide to making it at home.

Ingredients: 200g dried tofu skin, 1 cucumber (julienned), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 red chili (sliced), 1 tbsp sesame seeds, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tbsp chili oil, and 1 tbsp cooking oil.

Steps:

1. Prepare the tofu skin: Soak dried tofu skin in warm water for 10 minutes until soft, then drain and cut into thin strips.

2. Blanch (optional): For a softer texture, blanch tofu strips in boiling water for 30 seconds, then rinse with cold water.

3. Mix dressing: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, minced garlic, and chili oil. Stir until sugar dissolves.

4. Combine: Toss tofu strips, cucumber, and chili slices with the dressing. Let marinate for 5 minutes.

5. Sizzle: Heat cooking oil in a small pan until hot, pour over the mixture, and top with sesame seeds. Toss gently and serve immediately.

Tips: For extra crunch, use unblanched tofu skin. Adjust chili oil for spiciness. This dish pairs perfectly with rice or as a cold appetizer. Enjoy!
