How to Stir-Fried Chayote with Pork: A Simple Recipe

Stir-fried chayote with pork is a quick, healthy, and delicious dish that balances crunchiness and tenderness. Here’s a step-by-step guide to making it at home.

Ingredients: 2 fresh chayotes, 150g pork loin, 2 garlic cloves, 1 green chili (optional), 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp oyster sauce, 1/2 tsp sugar, salt, pepper, and 2 tbsp cooking oil.

Instructions:

1. Prep the ingredients: Peel the chayote, cut it into half-moons, and soak in salted water for 10 minutes to remove bitterness. Slice the pork thinly against the grain and marinate with 1 tsp soy sauce, pepper, and a pinch of salt for 15 minutes. Mince garlic and chop the chili.

2. Stir-fry the pork: Heat oil in a wok over high heat. Add pork and stir-fry until no longer pink. Remove and set aside.

3. Cook chayote: In the same wok, sauté garlic and chili until fragrant. Add chayote and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened.

4. Combine and season: Return pork to the wok. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar. Toss everything evenly and cook for 1–2 minutes more. Adjust seasoning with salt if needed.

5. Serve: Transfer to a plate and enjoy hot with steamed rice!
