How to Make Stir-Fried Oyster Mushrooms

Stir-fried oyster mushrooms are a quick, healthy, and versatile dish loved for their tender texture and ability to absorb flavors. Here’s a simple guide to making them perfectly.

Ingredients:

- 400g fresh oyster mushrooms, cleaned and torn into bite-sized pieces

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 green onion, chopped

- 1 bell pepper (optional, sliced for color)

- 2 tbsp cooking oil

- 1 tbsp soy sauce

- 1 tsp oyster sauce (optional for umami)

- ½ tsp sugar

- A pinch of salt and pepper

Steps:

1. Prepare the Mushrooms: Soak oyster mushrooms in salted water for 10 minutes to remove dirt, then rinse and drain. Pat dry with a paper towel to ensure they sear instead of steam.

2. Sauté Aromatics: Heat oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and stir-fry until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Avoid browning to prevent bitterness.

3. Cook the Mushrooms: Add the mushrooms and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until they soften and release their moisture. Increase heat to high if needed to evaporate excess water, ensuring they turn lightly golden.

4. Season and Finish: Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper. Toss well to coat. Mix in bell pepper and green onion, stir-frying for another 1–2 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender.

Tips: For extra flavor, a dash of sesame oil or chili flakes can be added at the end. Serve hot with rice or noodles as a nutritious side dish. Enjoy this effortless yet delicious meal!
