How to Make Hearty Pork Bone and Radish Soup

Pork bone and radish soup is a comforting, nutrient-rich dish perfect for cold days. Here’s a simple yet delicious recipe to guide you.

Ingredients: 2 lbs pork bones (marrow bones preferred), 1 large white radish (peeled and cut into chunks), 1 ginger slice (smashed), 3-4 green onions (tied), 1 tbsp cooking wine, salt to taste. Optional: carrots, goji berries, or dried shiitake mushrooms for extra flavor.

Steps:

1. Prepare the bones: Blanch pork bones in boiling water with 1 tbsp cooking wine for 5 minutes; rinse to remove impurities.

2. Simmer the broth: Transfer bones to a pot, add ginger, green onions, and 8-10 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1.5–2 hours until the broth is rich.

3. Add radish: Place radish chunks into the pot; cook for 30–40 minutes until tender. If using carrots or mushrooms, add them halfway through.

4. Season: Remove ginger and green onions. Add salt (and goji berries if using) and simmer for 5 more minutes.

Tips: For a richer broth, skim foam regularly while simmering. Serve hot with a sprinkle of chopped cilantro. This soup pairs wonderfully with steamed rice, offering a warm, satisfying meal that’s both nourishing and easy to prepare. Enjoy!
