Savory meat pastries are a beloved treat, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Here’s a simple yet delicious recipe to guide you.
Ingredients: For the dough, mix 2 cups flour, ½ tsp salt, and 6 tbsp cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add ½ cup cold water, knead into a smooth ball, and rest for 30 minutes. For the filling, combine 200g ground pork (or chicken/beef), 2 chopped scallions, 1 grated ginger, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, and a pinch of white pepper.
Steps:
1. Prepare the dough: Divide rested dough into 8 equal portions. Roll each into a thin circle, brush with oil, and fold into a layered square.
2. Make the filling: Mix all filling ingredients thoroughly. Chill for 15 minutes to enhance flavors.
3. Assemble: Place 1–2 tbsp filling in the center of each dough square. Fold diagonally to form a triangle, seal the edges tightly, and crimp with a fork.
4. Bake/Deep-fry: Brush with egg wash for a golden finish. Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes until crispy, or deep-fry at 170°C (340°F) for 4–5 minutes until golden brown.
Serve hot with sweet chili sauce or soy-vinegar dip. Enjoy these flaky, flavorful pastries as a snack or appetizer!
