How to Make Spicy Golden Mushrooms: A Simple Guide

Spicy golden mushrooms, a beloved Chinese appetizer, are crispy, spicy, and irresistibly savory. Here’s an easy recipe to recreate this dish at home.

Ingredients:

- 300g fresh golden mushrooms, washed and roots trimmed

- 3 cloves garlic, minced

- 2 green onions, chopped

- 1 tbsp chili flakes (adjust to taste)

- 2 tbsp soy sauce

- 1 tbsp oyster sauce

- 1 tsp sugar

- 1 tbsp sesame oil

- Oil for frying

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Mushrooms: Pat the mushrooms dry. If large, tear them into bite-sized pieces. For extra crispiness, lightly blanch them in boiling water for 1 minute, then drain and cool completely.

2. Fry until Crispy: Heat oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Deep-fry the mushrooms until golden and crispy (about 3-4 minutes). Remove and drain excess oil.

3. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and chili flakes.

4. St-fry: In the same wok, stir-fry minced garlic until fragrant. Add the fried mushrooms, sauce, and green onions. Toss quickly to coat evenly. Drizzle with sesame oil before serving.

Tips: For a healthier version, air-fry the mushrooms at 200°C for 10-12 minutes instead of deep-frying. Serve warm as a side dish or snack. Enjoy the perfect blend of spicy, sweet, and umami flavors!
