Pork and Onion Pie Recipe Guide

Creating a delicious pork and onion pie is simple with this step-by-step guide. Perfect for a hearty meal, these savory pies are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Ingredients: For the filling, you’ll need 500g ground pork, 2 large onions (finely chopped), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tsp dried thyme, 1 tbsp soy sauce, salt, and pepper to taste. For the pastry, use 500g store-bought puff pastry or make your own with flour, butter, and a pinch of salt.

Instructions:

1. Prepare the filling: Sauté onions in a pan until soft (5 mins). Add pork, garlic, and thyme; cook until browned (8-10 mins). Season with soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Let cool.

2. Roll the pastry: Divide pastry into two portions. Roll each into a circle slightly larger than your pie dish (approx. 20cm).

3. Assemble: Place one pastry circle in the dish, add the filling, and cover with the second pastry. Crimp edges to seal.

4. Bake: Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Brush the pie with egg wash for a golden finish. Bake for 25-30 mins until pastry is puffed and golden.

Serving Tip: Enjoy hot with a side of ketchup or mustard for extra flavor. These pies also reheat well, making them great for meal prep!
