Red date cake, a moist and fragrant Chinese steamed dessert, is loved for its sweet date flavor and soft texture. Here’s an easy step-by-step guide to make it at home.

Ingredients:

- 200g all-purpose flour

- 150g pitted red dates (soaked in warm water until soft)

- 150ml milk (or water)

- 30g sugar (adjust to taste)

- 7g active dry yeast

- 1 tsp vegetable oil

Steps:

1. Prepare the date paste: Blend soaked red dates with 2 tbsp of their soaking water until smooth. Set aside.

2. Activate yeast: Mix yeast with warm milk (not hot, or it will kill the yeast) and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
