How to Make Pork and Celery Dumplings: A Step-by-Step Guide

Pork and celery dumplings are a beloved dish, crispy on the outside and savory on the inside. Here’s a simple guide to making them at home.

Ingredients: For the filling, you’ll need 300g ground pork, 2 cups finely chopped celery, 2 cloves minced garlic, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1/2 tsp salt, and a pinch of pepper. For the wrapper, use store-bought dumpling wrappers or make your own with flour and water.

Steps:

1. Prepare the filling: Mix ground pork, celery, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Stir well and let it rest for 15 minutes to enhance the flavors.

2. Wrap the dumplings: Place a wrapper on your palm, add 1 teaspoon of filling in the center. Fold the wrapper in half, pinch the edges to seal, and create pleats for a classic shape. Ensure no air is trapped inside to prevent bursting during cooking.

3. Cook the dumplings: Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Arrange the dumplings in the pan, flat side down. Fry for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms turn golden. Add 1/4 cup of water, cover, and steam for 5-7 minutes until the wrappers are translucent and the filling is cooked through. Uncover and let the excess water evaporate for extra crispiness.

Serving: Serve hot with a dipping sauce of soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil. Enjoy these delicious dumplings as a snack or a main dish!
