How to Make Teriyaki Tofu: A Simple Guide

Teriyaki tofu is a delicious and versatile dish that combines tender tofu with a sweet and savory glaze. Here’s a step-by-step guide to making it at home.

First, press the tofu to remove excess water—this helps it absorb the sauce better. Cut it into cubes or slices, then pan-fry in oil until golden on both sides. Set aside.

Next, prepare the teriyaki sauce: mix ¼ cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons mirin, 1 tablespoon sugar, and a teaspoon of ginger in a small bowl. For a thicker glaze, add 1 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in water.

Pour the sauce into the pan, bring to a simmer, and return the tofu to the pan. Coat it evenly, cooking for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens. Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions.

For extra flavor, marinate the tofu in the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking. Serve with rice or vegetables for a complete meal. Enjoy this healthy, plant-based delight!
