How to Make Braised Mutton with White Radish

Braised mutton with white radish is a nourishing and flavorful dish, perfect for cold weather. Here’s a simple guide to prepare it.

Ingredients: 500g mutton (cut into chunks), 1 large white radish (peeled and cubed), 3 ginger slices, 5 garlic cloves, 1 cinnamon stick, a pinch of Sichuan peppercorns, 2 tbsp cooking wine, 1 tbsp light soy sauce, 1 tbsp dark soy sauce, salt to taste, and water.

Steps:

1. Prepare the mutton: Soak mutton in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess blood. Rinse and drain.

2. Sear the mutton: Heat oil in a pot over medium-high heat. Add ginger, garlic, and peppercorns, stir-fry until fragrant. Add mutton and sear until lightly browned. Pour in cooking wine and soy sauces, mix well.

3. Simmer: Add enough water to cover the mutton. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 hour.

4. Add radish: Add white radish cubes, simmer for another 20-30 minutes until the radish is tender and the mutton is soft.

5. Season: Adjust salt to taste. Serve hot, garnished with green onions if desired.

This dish boasts a harmonious blend of tender mutton and savory radish, with a warm, aromatic broth that’s both comforting and nutritious. Enjoy!
