Purple sweet sesame balls are a delightful treat with a chewy exterior and sweet, nutty filling. Here’s a simple recipe to guide you.
Ingredients:
- 200g purple sweet potato, steamed and mashed
- 100g glutinous rice flour
- 2 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
- 80g black sesame seeds, ground and mixed with 1 tbsp sugar
- Oil for frying
Steps:
1. Prepare the dough: Mix mashed purple sweet potato with glutinous rice flour and sugar. Knead into a smooth dough. If too dry, add a little warm water.
2. Make the filling: Roll the ground sesame seeds into small balls, about 1cm in diameter.
3. Shape the balls: Take a dough portion (about 30g), flatten it, and wrap a sesame ball inside. Seal tightly and roll into a smooth ball.
4. Fry: Heat oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Gently drop the balls in and fry, turning occasionally, until golden brown and puffed up (about 5-7 minutes).
5. Drain: Remove and drain on paper towels. Let them cool slightly—they’re best enjoyed warm!
These vibrant purple balls are not only delicious but also visually appealing. Serve as a snack or dessert, and savor the perfect combo of sweet, nutty, and chewy!
