How to Stir-Fry Cabbage: A Simple Guide

Stir-fried cabbage is a quick, healthy, and versatile dish loved for its crisp texture and mild flavor. Here’s a basic guide to making it delicious every time.

Ingredients: 1 medium cabbage (cored and shredded), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tbsp cooking oil, 1 tsp soy sauce, ½ tsp salt, a pinch of sugar (optional), and a dash of sesame oil for finishing.

Steps:

1. Prep the cabbage: Rinse and shred the cabbage evenly. Drain well to avoid excess water, which can make the dish soggy.

2. Heat the wok: Place a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add oil and swirl to coat. Once hot, toss in minced garlic and stir-fry for 10 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.

3. Stir-fry the cabbage: Add the shredded cabbage and stir-fry vigorously for 2–3 minutes until it wilts slightly but remains crisp. Season with soy sauce, salt, and sugar (if using).

4. Finish and serve: Drizzle with sesame oil, toss quickly, and transfer to a plate. Serve hot with rice or as a side dish.

Tips: For extra flavor, add a pinch of white pepper or a sliced chili. Adjust seasoning to taste—some like a touch of vinegar for brightness. This simple dish highlights cabbage’s natural sweetness and is ready in under 10 minutes!
