How to Make Marble Cookies: A Simple Guide

Marble cookies, loved for their striking swirls and buttery flavor, are easier to make than they look. Here’s a step-by-step guide to baking these treats at home.

Ingredients:

- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened

- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar

- 2 large eggs

- 2 tsp vanilla extract

- 2 ¼ cups (270g) all-purpose flour

- 1 tsp baking powder

- ½ tsp salt

- ¼ cup (25g) unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions:

1. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes). Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in vanilla.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined—do not overmix.

3. Prepare Cocoa Mixture: In a small bowl, mix cocoa powder with 2 tbsp of the dough until a thick paste forms.

4. Create Swirls: Divide the plain dough into two portions. Add the cocoa mixture to one portion and mix until marbled. Take small spoonfuls of both doughs and place them on a baking sheet, gently pressing them together. Use a knife to swirl the doughs for a marble effect.

5. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Cool on a wire rack.
