How to Make a Perfect Peach Pie: A Complete Guide

A classic peach pie is a beloved dessert, combining flaky pastry with sweet, juicy peaches. Here’s a simple yet comprehensive guide to baking one.

Ingredients: For the filling, you’ll need 6 cups sliced fresh or frozen peaches (thawed), ¾ cup granulated sugar, 2 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tsp cinnamon, ¼ tsp nutmeg, 1 tbsp lemon juice, and 2 tbsp butter. For the crust, use 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade: 2½ cups flour, 1 tsp salt, 1 cup cold butter, and 6-8 tbsp ice water).

Steps:

1. Prepare the crust: Roll out one crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Refrigerate while making the filling.

2. Make the filling: Toss peaches with sugar, cornstarch, spices, and lemon juice. Let sit for 15 minutes to release juices.

3. Assemble: Pour the filling into the crust. Dot with butter. Place the second crust over the top, trim edges, and crimp to seal. Cut slits for steam.

4. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 45-55 minutes until crust is golden and filling bubbles. Cover edges with foil if they brown too quickly.

5. Cool: Let the pie cool for 2+ hours before slicing to set the filling.

Tips: For extra flavor, add a pinch of vanilla or a handful of blueberries. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream! Enjoy your homemade peach pie!
