How to Make Braised Pork Ribs with Kelp

Braised pork ribs with kelp is a nutritious and flavorful dish, perfect for family meals. Here’s a simple guide to preparing it:

Ingredients: 500g pork ribs, 200g dried kelp, 3 slices ginger, 2 cloves garlic, 1 green onion, 1 tbsp cooking wine, 2 tbsp light soy sauce, 1 tbsp dark soy sauce, 1 tsp sugar, salt to taste, and water.

Steps:

1. Prep the ingredients: Soak dried kelp in water for 20 minutes until soft, then cut into 5cm strips. Rinse pork ribs, blanch them in boiling water with cooking wine for 3 minutes, then drain.

2. Sear the ribs: Heat oil in a pot, stir-fry ginger, garlic, and green onion until fragrant. Add ribs and sear until golden.

3. Simmer: Pour in water to cover the ribs, add light/dark soy sauce and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 40 minutes.

4. Add kelp: Add kelp, continue simmering for 15-20 minutes until tender. Adjust salt and serve hot.

Tips: For a richer flavor, use dried kelp instead of fresh. Soaking it longer ensures a softer texture. This dish pairs well with steamed rice, offering a umami-packed blend of tender ribs and savory kelp. Enjoy!
