How to Make Purple Sweet Potato Rose Buns

Purple sweet potato rose buns are a visually stunning and nutritious twist on traditional steamed buns, combining the natural sweetness of purple sweet potatoes with a delicate, flower-like shape. Here’s a simple guide to creating these delightful treats.

### Ingredients

- For the dough: 300g all-purpose flour, 3g active dry yeast, 30g sugar, 150ml warm milk, 15g butter.

- For the filling: 200g steamed and mashed purple sweet potato, 20g sugar (adjust to taste), 1 tbsp milk.

### Steps

1. Prepare the dough: Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk, let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Mix in flour and knead into a smooth dough. Add softened butter and knead until elastic. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

2. Make the filling: While the dough rises, mash steamed purple sweet potato with sugar and milk until smooth. Let it cool completely.

3. Shape the buns: Punch down the risen dough and divide into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a small circle (about 10cm diameter). Spread a thin layer of purple sweet potato filling on each circle, leaving a 1cm border.

4. Form roses: Cut each circle into 8 equal wedges. Roll each wedge from the wide end to the point, then coil it tightly into a spiral shape, starting from the center. Place 6-8 spirals in a muffin tin, with the last spiral tucked underneath to form a "rose." Repeat for all dough portions.

5. Proof and steam: Cover the shaped buns and let them rise for 20 minutes. Steam over medium heat for 15 minutes. Turn off the heat and let them rest for 5 minutes before uncovering.

These buns are soft, fragrant, and naturally colored, perfect as a breakfast or dessert. Enjoy the beautiful rose shape and the earthy sweetness of purple sweet potato in every bite!
