Making rich, creamy soy milk at home is simple and rewarding. Follow this guide to achieve a smooth, flavorful drink without additives.
Ingredients: You’ll need 1 cup dried soybeans, 8 cups water, plus a pinch of salt or sugar for flavor. Optional: a vanilla pod or dates for sweetness.
Step 1: Soak the Beans Rinse soybeans, then soak in 4 cups of water for 8–12 hours (or overnight) until softened. Drain well.
Step 2: Blend Soaked beans and 4 cups fresh water into a blender. Blend on high for 2–3 minutes until completely smooth. For extra creaminess, strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or nut milk bag, squeezing out all liquid. Discard the pulp (save it for baking!).
Step 3: Cook Pour the strained soy milk into a pot. Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 15–20 minutes until it boils and froths. Reduce heat to avoid overflow. Skim off any foam.
Step 4: Season Add salt, sugar, or vanilla to taste while cooking. Let it cool completely before storing in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Enjoy your homemade soy milk hot, cold, or in smoothies! This method ensures a rich, nutritious base free from preservatives.
