How to Make Seaweed and Pork Floss Bread

Seaweed and pork floss bread, a beloved snack, combines fluffy bread with savory toppings. Here’s a simple guide to making it at home.

Ingredients: For the dough: 300g flour, 3g yeast, 30g sugar, 2g salt, 1 egg, 150ml milk, 30g butter. For the filling: 50g seaweed sheets (crumbled), 80g pork floss, 2 eggs (for egg wash).

Steps:

1. Prepare the dough: Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add egg and milk, knead into a smooth dough. Incorporate softened butter and knead until elastic. Let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours until doubled.

2. Shape the bread: Punch down the dough, divide into 6 equal portions. Roll each into a ball, cover, and rest for 15 minutes. Flatten each portion into an oval, leaving a thicker edge.

3. Add fillings: Brush the surface with egg wash, sprinkle seaweed and pork floss evenly. Roll up from the shorter edge, seal the seam, and place seam-side down on a baking sheet.

4. Proof and bake: Let the dough rise again for 30 minutes. Brush with egg wash and bake at 180°C for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.

Tips: For extra flavor, add a thin layer of mayonnaise before the fillings. Enjoy warm or at room temperature! This versatile snack is perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea.
