Beef and Onion Pie Recipe Guide

Creating a delicious beef and onion pie is simpler than you think! Follow this guide to bake a savory, golden-crusted pie perfect for any meal.

Ingredients: For the filling, you’ll need 500g ground beef, 2 large onions (sliced), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tbsp tomato paste, 500ml beef broth, 1 tsp dried thyme, salt, and pepper. For the pastry, use 500g store-bought puff pastry or make your own with flour, butter, and cold water.

Steps:

1. Sauté the onions: Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan. Cook onions over medium heat until caramelized (10–15 mins). Add garlic, cook for 1 more minute.

2. Brown the beef: Increase heat. Add ground beef, breaking it apart. Cook until browned (5–7 mins). Stir in tomato paste, thyme, salt, and pepper.

3. Simmer the filling: Pour in beef broth. Simmer for 15–20 mins until thickened. Let cool slightly.

4. Assemble the pie: Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Roll out pastry, line a pie dish, and add filling. Cover with another pastry sheet. Crimp edges and cut a vent hole.

5. Bake: Brush with egg wash. Bake for 30–35 mins until pastry is puffed and golden. Let rest for 5 mins before serving.

Tips: For extra flavor, add Worcestershire sauce or mixed herbs. Serve with mashed potatoes or a fresh salad. Enjoy your homemade beef and onion pie!
