How to Make Red Bean Flower Bread: A Step-by-Step Guide

Red bean flower bread, a soft, fluffy treat with a sweet red bean center, is loved for its vibrant appearance and delicate texture. Here’s a simple guide to making it at home.

Ingredients: For the dough, you’ll need 300g all-purpose flour, 30g sugar, 3g yeast, 1 egg, 120ml warm milk, and 30g butter. For the filling, use 200g sweetened red bean paste.

Steps:

1. Prepare the dough: Dissolve yeast in warm milk, let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Mix flour, sugar, and egg, then pour in the yeast mixture. Knead into a smooth dough, add softened butter, and knead until elastic. Let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.

2. Shape the bread: Punch down the dough and divide into 8 equal portions. Roll each into a ball, flatten, and wrap 2-3 tbsp red bean paste inside. Seal tightly.

3. Make the flower design: Place the filled dough seam-side down. Use scissors to cut 4-5 slits around the top, then gently pull each slit outward to form petals. Cover and let rise for 20 minutes.

4. Bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the tops with milk or egg wash and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden. Cool on a wire rack.

Enjoy your homemade red bean flower bread fresh from the oven—perfect for breakfast or as a sweet snack!
