How to Make Soy Milk and Bread: A Simple Guide

Making soy milk and bread at home is easy, nutritious, and rewarding. Here’s a basic guide to get you started.

For Soy Milk:

You’ll need 1 cup dried soybeans and 4 cups water. Soak beans overnight, then rinse. Blend soaked beans with 3 cups water until smooth. Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth to remove pulp. Transfer the liquid to a pot, add 1 cup water, and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it boils (5–10 mins). Add sugar or vanilla to taste. Let it cool, and your fresh soy milk is ready! Store in the fridge for up to 3 days.

For Basic Bread:

Mix 3 cups flour, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp salt, and 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active yeast in a bowl. Add 1 cup warm soy milk (or dairy milk), 2 tbsp melted butter, and 1 egg. Knead into a smooth dough (8–10 mins). Let it rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour, until doubled. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased pan. Let it rise for another 30 mins. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 mins until golden. Cool before slicing.

Enjoy your homemade soy milk and fresh bread for a healthy breakfast!
