How to Make Pineapple Duck: A Complete Guide

Pineapple duck is a sweet and savory dish that balances tender duck with tangy pineapple, creating a tropical twist on a classic meal. Here’s a simple yet delicious recipe to try at home.

Ingredients:

1 whole duck (about 1.5 kg), cut into pieces; 1 fresh pineapple, cored and cubed; 3 tbsp soy sauce; 2 tbsp oyster sauce; 1 tbsp sugar; 1 tsp five-spice powder; 2 cloves garlic, minced; 1 tbsp vegetable oil; Salt and pepper to taste.

Instructions:

1. Marinate the duck: Rinse the duck pieces and pat dry. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, five-spice powder, garlic, salt, and pepper. Rub the marinade over the duck and let it sit for 30 minutes.

2. Sear the duck: Heat oil in a large wok or pot over medium-high heat. Add the duck and sear until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.

3. Cook with pineapple: In the same pot, add the pineapple cubes and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Return the duck to the pot, add 1 cup of water, and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 40-50 minutes, or until the duck is tender.

4. Thicken the sauce: Uncover and increase heat. Let the sauce reduce until slightly thickened, coating the duck and pineapple. Adjust seasoning with salt or sugar if needed.

Serving:

Garnish with sesame seeds or fresh cilantro and serve hot with steamed rice. The sweet pineapple complements the rich duck, making it a crowd-pleaser for any occasion!
