Fried chicken drumsticks are a beloved comfort food, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Here’s a simple guide to making them at home.
Ingredients: 4-6 chicken drumsticks, 1 cup all-purpose flour, 2 eggs, 1 cup breadcrumbs, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika, salt, pepper, and oil for frying.
Steps:
1. Marinate: Rinse drumsticks and pat dry. Marinate in 1 tbsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, and 1 tsp garlic powder for 30 minutes.
2. Prepare coating: Mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. In another bowl, beat eggs. Spread breadcrumbs on a plate.
3. Coat: Dip each drumstick in flour, shake off excess, then dip in eggs, and finally coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs. Press gently to adhere.
4. Rest: Let coated drumsticks rest for 10 minutes to set the crust.
5. Fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry drumsticks in batches for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
6. Drain: Remove and drain on paper towels. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Tips: For extra crispiness, double-coat (flour-egg-breadcrumbs-flour). Serve with your favorite dipping sauce like ranch or honey mustard. Enjoy!
