How to Make Chive and Pork Dumplings: A Complete Guide

Chive and pork dumplings, a beloved comfort food, are surprisingly easy to make at home. Follow this simple guide to create plump, flavorful dumplings from scratch.

Ingredients: For the filling, you’ll need 300g ground pork, 200g fresh chives (finely chopped), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 tsp ginger (grated), 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1/2 tsp white pepper, and a pinch of salt. For the dumpling wrappers, use 300g all-purpose flour and 120ml warm water.

Steps:

1. Make the filling: Mix pork, chives, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, and salt in a bowl. Stir clockwise until sticky; let it rest for 15 minutes to marinate.

2. Prepare wrappers: Combine flour and warm water, knead into a smooth dough. Cover and rest for 30 minutes, then roll into thin logs and cut into small rounds. Roll each into a 3-inch wrapper.

3. Shape dumplings: Place 1 tbsp filling in the center. Fold the wrapper in half, pinch the edges to seal, then create pleats along one side for a classic look.

4. Cook: Boil water, add dumplings, and cook for 3-5 minutes until they float. For a crispier texture, pan-fry them in oil until golden brown on both sides after boiling.

Serve hot with soy-vinegar dipping sauce. Enjoy these homemade dumplings as a tasty snack or meal!
