How to Make Garlic Cucumber: A Simple Guide

Garlic cucumber is a refreshing, low-calorie dish loved for its crunch and zesty flavor. Perfect as a side or light snack, here’s an easy guide to making it.

Ingredients: 2 fresh cucumbers, 3–4 garlic cloves, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp vinegar, ½ tsp sugar, 1 tbsp sesame oil, a pinch of salt, and optional chili flakes for heat.

Steps:

1. Prep the cucumbers: Wash and peel the cucumbers (or leave half the peel for color). Slice them into thin rounds or half-moons, then place in a bowl. Sprinkle with 1 tsp salt, mix, and let sit for 15 minutes to draw out excess water. Drain and pat dry.

2. Make the garlic sauce: Mince the garlic finely. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and sesame oil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

3. Combine: Toss the drained cucumbers with the minced garlic and sauce. Mix well to ensure every slice is coated.

4. Rest and serve: Let the marinate for 10–15 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Garnish with sesame seeds or chili flakes if desired. Serve chilled for a cooling effect.

Variations: For extra crunch, add a splash of rice vinegar. For a richer taste, mix in a teaspoon of peanut butter. Enjoy this healthy, vibrant dish in under 30 minutes!
