How to Make Colorful Dumplings: A Step-by-Step Guide

Colorful dumplings, with their vibrant hues and delightful flavors, are a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Here’s a simple guide to creating these eye-catching treats.

Ingredients: For the dough, you’ll need 200g all-purpose flour, 100ml warm water, and 100ml spinach juice (for green) or beetroot juice (for red). For the filling, choose your favorite mix—pork and chive, shrimp and cabbage, or vegetarian tofu and mushroom.

Steps:

1. Prepare the Dough: Divide the flour into two equal parts. Knead one part with warm water to form a plain white dough. For the colored dough, knead the other part with spinach or beetroot juice until smooth. Let both doughs rest for 30 minutes.

2. Make the Filling: Chop ingredients finely, mix with seasonings (soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, etc.), and stir until cohesive.

3. Shape the Dumplings: Roll each dough into a long log, then cut into small pieces. Flatten each piece into a round wrapper. Place a spoonful of filling in the center. Fold the wrapper in half, pinch the edges to seal, and create pleats for a classic look. For a two-tone effect, use a small cutter to imprint a colored dough shape onto the white wrapper before adding filling.

4. Cook: Boil water, add dumplings, and cook until they float. For a crispy finish, pan-fry them in oil after boiling.

Serve with soy-vinegar dip or chili oil. These colorful dumplings are perfect for festivals or family gatherings, adding a fun twist to a traditional dish!
