Hearty Tomato and Beef Stew: A Culinary Guide

Tomato and beef stew is a globally beloved dish, blending tender beef, rich tomatoes, and aromatic spices. Here’s a comprehensive guide to crafting this comforting meal.

Ingredients: 500g beef chuck (cut into cubes), 4 ripe tomatoes (blended), 1 onion (diced), 3 garlic cloves (minced), 2 carrots (sliced), 1 celery stalk (chopped), 500ml beef broth, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tsp each of paprika and dried thyme, salt, and pepper to taste. Olive oil for searing.

Steps:

1. Sear the Beef: Pat beef dry, season with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a pot over medium-high heat. Brown beef on all sides (about 5-7 minutes), then set aside.

2. Sauté Aromatics: In the same pot, sauté onion, garlic, carrots, and celery until softened (5 minutes). Stir in tomato paste and paprika, cook for 1 minute.

3. Simmer: Return beef to the pot. Add blended tomatoes, beef broth, thyme, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1.5–2 hours, until beef is fork-tender.

4. Adjust and Serve: Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or basil. Serve hot with crusty bread or rice.

Variations: For a tangy twist, add a splash of red wine during simmering. For extra richness, stir in a dollop of cream at the end. Vegetarians can substitute beef with lentils or mushrooms.

This hearty stew is perfect for cozy gatherings, offering a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that warm the soul.
