Relieve spring dryness, know what you eat early

Beat Spring Dryness: A Dietary Guide

Spring brings warmer days but also "spring dryness," a common issue causing dry skin, sore throats, and irritability. Adjusting your diet can effectively alleviate these discomforts.

Prioritize hydrating and cooling foods. Start with watery fruits like watermelon, strawberries, and pears, which replenish fluids and vitamins. Leafy greens such as spinach and kale are rich in antioxidants and fiber, helping to detoxify and moisten the body. Don’t forget traditional Chinese medicine ingredients like lily bulb and white fungus, known for their lung-moistening and heat-clearing properties.

Reduce "heaty" foods that exacerbate dryness, such as fried snacks, spicy dishes, and alcohol. These can irritate the digestive system and worsen dehydration. Instead, opt for light, easily digestible meals like congee with pumpkin or barley, which soothe the stomach and boost hydration.

Additionally, drink warm water or herbal teas like chrysanthemum or honeysuckle to flush out toxins. A small bowl of snow pear soup with rock sugar is a classic remedy for soothing a dry throat.

By balancing your diet with moistening, cooling foods and avoiding irritants, you can enjoy spring to the fullest while keeping dryness at bay.
