How to Make a Marble Cake Roll: A Simple Guide

A marble cake roll, with its striking swirls of vanilla and chocolate, is a delightful treat that’s easier to make than it looks. Follow this simple guide to create a tender, moist cake roll perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients: For the vanilla batter: 3 eggs, 60g sugar, 50g cake flour, 30ml milk, 30ml oil. For the chocolate batter: Add 15g cocoa powder and 10ml hot water to half the vanilla batter.

Steps:

1. Prepare Batter: Separate eggs. Beat yolks with sugar until pale, then mix in milk and oil. Sift in flour and fold gently. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites to soft peaks, then fold into yolk mixture. Divide the batter; mix cocoa with hot water and stir into half.

2. Create Swirls: Pour vanilla batter into a lined 15x10-inch baking sheet. Drop spoonfuls of chocolate batter on top. Use a toothpick to swirl gently—don’t overmix!

3. Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 12-15 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

4. Roll: Immediately invert the cake onto a towel dusted with sugar. Peel off the liner, and roll the cake with the towel while warm. Let cool completely.

5. Finish: Unroll, spread with whipped cream or jam, then roll again. Dust with powdered sugar before slicing.

Enjoy your homemade marble cake roll—soft, flavorful, and visually stunning!
