How to Make Perfect Pan-Fried Pork Patties

Pan-fried pork patties are a versatile and delicious dish, loved for their crispy exterior and juicy interior. Here’s a simple guide to making them at home.

Ingredients:

500g ground pork (preferably with 20% fat for flavor), 1 small onion (finely chopped), 2 cloves garlic (minced), 1 egg, 2 breadcrumbs, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp salt, and oil for frying.

Steps:

1. Mix the ingredients: In a bowl, combine ground pork, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Mix thoroughly until well combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.

2. Shape the patties: Divide the mixture into equal portions (about 100g each). Gently shape them into patties, about 1.5cm thick. Press a small indentation in the center to prevent puffing during cooking.

3. Heat the pan: Add 1-2 tbsp of oil to a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot but not smoking.

4. Fry the patties: Place the patties in the pan, cooking for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if needed.

5. Rest and serve: Transfer the patties to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Let them rest for 2 minutes before serving. Enjoy them with rice, in a bun, or with your favorite dipping sauce.

These patties pair well with fresh vegetables or a tangy coleslaw. Adjust seasonings to taste, and experiment with herbs like parsley or basil for extra flavor!
