Banana tarts, with their creamy filling and caramelized fruit, are a delightful treat. Here’s a simple guide to making them at home.

Ingredients: For 4 tarts, you’ll need 2 ripe bananas (sliced), 1 cup all-purpose flour, 4 tbsp cold butter (cubed), 2 tbsp sugar, 1 egg, ½ cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

Steps:

1. Make the crust: Mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add 1 tbsp ice water, knead gently, and chill for 30 minutes. Roll out, line tart molds, and blind-bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15 minutes.

2. Prepare filling: Whisk egg, milk, vanilla, and sugar. Arrange banana slices on the crust. Pour the mixture over.

3. Bake: At 170°C (340°F) for 25–30 minutes until set. Cool before serving.

Variations: Add cinnamon to the filling for warmth, or top with caramelized banana slices. For a richer taste, incorporate cream cheese into the egg mixture.
