How to Make Stir-Fried Beef with Asparagus

Stir-fried beef with asparagus is a quick, nutritious dish that balances tender beef and crisp asparagus in a savory sauce. Here’s a simple guide to making it at home.

Ingredients: 500g beef sirloin, sliced thinly against the grain; 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces; 2 cloves garlic, minced; 1 tbsp ginger, grated; 2 tbsp soy sauce; 1 tbsp oyster sauce; 1 tsp sugar; 1 tbsp cornstarch; 2 tbsp vegetable oil; salt and pepper to taste.

Instructions:

1. Marinate the beef: In a bowl, combine beef slices with 1 tbsp soy sauce, cornstarch, pepper, and 1 tbsp oil. Let it sit for 15 minutes to tenderize.

2. Prepare the sauce: Mix remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and 2 tbsp water in a small bowl.

3. Stir-fry: Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.

4. Cook asparagus: In the same pan, stir-fry garlic and ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add asparagus and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until crisp-tender.

5. Combine: Return beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and toss everything together for 1 minute. Ensure beef is coated and sauce thickens slightly.

6. Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds if desired and enjoy hot with rice or noodles.

This dish is best served immediately to savor the tender beef and vibrant asparagus. Adjust seasoning to your preference and feel free to add bell peppers or carrots for extra color!
