How to Make Fried Bananas: A Simple Guide

Fried bananas, a crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside treat, are easy to make with just a few ingredients. Here’s a basic guide to get you started.

First, gather ripe but firm bananas (preferably Cavendish), all-purpose flour, cornstarch, sugar, a pinch of salt, and oil for frying. For extra flavor, add a dash of cinnamon or vanilla extract to the batter.

Peel the bananas and cut them into 1-inch thick slices or halves lengthwise. In a bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, 1 tablespoon sugar, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add water while stirring until you get a smooth, thick batter—similar to pancake batter.

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat (350°F/180°C). Dip each banana slice into the batter, ensuring even coating, then gently place it in the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted drain and place on paper towels to excess oil.

For a twist, serve with honey, chocolate sauce, or a sprinkle of powdered sugar. You can also coat them in panko breadcrumbs before frying for extra crunch. Enjoy these delicious fried bananas as a snack or dessert!
